Ukrainian military. In December 2024, he was taken prisoner in the occupied territory of Donetsk region of Ukraine. A case was opened against him for participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation. At the same time, the MFA claims that they committed offences in the Kursk region. In June 2025, the case came to court. On 18 August 2025, Matviychuk was sentenced to 13 years in a strict regime colony.
