Olga Panyuta

She was detained on 25 November 2018 and placed under house arrest on 27 November on charges of organising activities of an extremist organisation in connection with her involvement in the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles solely for religious activities: meetings, joint worship services, attracting new followers. On 19 November 2019, she was released from house arrest on her own recognisance. On 10 February 2023, she was sentenced to four years in a general regime colony. On 24 May, the court of appeal reduced the term by two months. Upon arrival in the colony, Panyuta was for some time in the punishment cell because of a lighter found in her possession during a search. In October 2023, it became known that Panyuta was transferred to strict detention conditions.
