According to the investigation, on 7 September 2015, Pyotr Miloserdov, a political technologist, sociologist and former member of the nationalist and opposition movements, was put on the federal wanted list. Miloserdov himself claims that he did not hide from the investigation and did not leave Moscow, nor did he receive notification that he was wanted. On 24 January 2018, Miloserdov was detained in Moscow. On 25 January 2018, Judge K.A. Pokhilko of the Khamovnicheskiy District Court of Moscow ordered him to be taken in custody as a preventive measure.

After his detention, a case was opened against Miloserdov for use of a false document and aiding and abetting its manufacturing. The investigation claimed that while being detained, Miloserdov presented a passport with his photo but a false name. At the same time, the inspection protocols stated that Miloserdov did not have his passport with him at all.
On 29 May 2019, Miloserdov was sentenced to two and a half years in a general-regime colony and 320 hours of compulsory labour. The charge of aiding and abetting manufacturing a false document was dropped.
On 27 September 2019, Miloserdov was released.
