Ramil Damirov

Resident of Orel, lawyer. Supposedly, he was detained on 6 July 2023. According to the protocol, he swore with mat at 2 a.m. outside a grocery shop. That day he was fined under the administrative article on petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the CAO), and the next day he was arrested for four days under the administrative article on disobedience to the lawful demands of police officers (Article 19.3 of the CAO). Damirov claimed that the report under the second article was drawn up after he was taken out of the police station, where he had been since the night detention, on his way to court, and two new police officers approached him at the gate and demanded his documents, while the officers who had led him away and accused him of refusing to show his documents. After the arrest was served, Damirov was detained again. On 11 July, the court of another district of Orel arrested him for 10 days under the article on petty hooliganism: Damirov claimed that after his release he was brought to Privokzalnaya Square, where he was immediately detained for an invented reason. On 20 July 2023, Damirov was detained near the Orel regional court building, where he was going to appeal against the arrest decisions. On that day, a case was opened against him for preparing to participate in the activities of a terrorist organisation: according to the investigation, he intended to join the Freedom of Russia Legion. The next day Damirov was taken into custody. On 24 June 2024, he was sentenced to nine years in a strict regime colony.
