Biography
A resident of Surgut who worked for Surgutneftegaz. He took part in the activities of a libertarian library established by Nikita Oleinik. He was detained at his workplace on 1 September 2022. Later Paklin reported that he had been subjected to electric shocks and pressured to give the required testimony. On 3 September he was taken to Tyumen and placed in custody. He was charged with participating in a terrorist community and planning terrorist attacks together with Oleinik and four other young men. Later Paklin was transferred to another pre-trial detention centre, separate from the others — the support group does not rule out that this was done to exert pressure on him. Paklin said that his health had seriously deteriorated while in custody. In 2023 Paklin’s case was severed into separate proceedings, and he was ordered to undergo psychiatric treatment. In April 2024 the case was suspended, but in November it became known that the prosecution had been resumed.
