On 17 March, the activist's personal data and information on the criminal case were made public. On the same day, Taganov was placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure. On 29 July, Taganov was sentenced to 3 years' probation. Taganov was placed under house arrest pending the execution of his sentence. On 3 October, the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) applied for Taganov's arrest on the grounds that he had violated the conditions of his house arrest due to a series of pings from the monitoring bracelet he was wearing. According to the prison inspector's report, on one occasion the bracelet went off due to a technical malfunction, and on the other occasion the inspector verified that he was at home by calling his home phone number. However, FSIN provided documentation showing that the activist was at a sports club during the hours when the monitoring bracelet went off. Taganov's wife insists that the documents are forged. On 6 October his sentence came into force, although Taganov had already spent the whole week in detention before the decision was taken. He was released on 13 October. In November, the prosecutor's office declared Taganov's placement in custody illegal. On 6 August 2023, Taganov was beaten up by an unidentified person because of publications on the Internet criticising Putin.
