Seiran Murtaza
Biography
Crimean Solidarity activist. On March 27, 2019, Seyran was detained after a search and taken into custody the same day, charged with participating in the activities of a terrorist organization due to his alleged involvement in the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is not associated with terrorism. He was sent to the pre-trial detention centre in Rostov region, and later transferred back to Crimea. In March 2020, it was reported that Murtaza was also charged with preparing to overthrow the constitutional order. On January 11, 2023, Seyran was sentenced to 13 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
