Biography
Under Shimkevich's leadership, "Tomskneft" significantly increased oil production; the Tomsk Regional Prosecutor's Office suspected the company of exceeding crude oil production quotas; a criminal case was initiated; the court returned the case to the prosecutor's office, as the defence convinced the court that Shimkevich did not commit a crime, and that the charges in the case were not properly specified; the prosecutor's office appealed the City Court's ruling, and in June 2006 the case was sent to the regional court.

The Tomsk regional prosecutor's office brought another criminal case against the "Tomskneft" executives; on 16 March 2010, Shimkevich was sentenced to 12 years; the Moscow City Court reduced the sentence to 11 years.
The Prosecutor General's Office opened another criminal case against Shimkevich. On 16 January 2007, Shimkevich was detained and on 17 January arrested; his arrest was extended several times. In April 2011, the Dorogomilovsky Court of Moscow found Shimkevich guilty in this case and sentenced him to 13 years in prison and a 1 million rouble fine. He was released on parole on 18 June 2013.
