Sergey Cherepovsky is an activist of the Other Russia. On 1 May 2013, together with party activist Anastasia Zinovkina he came to Tver to participate in a demonstration. Zinovkina claims that during the demonstration they were pointed out to the police by a member of the FSB or the Centre for Combating Extremism. After they pulled out a flag with "Limonka" on it and took out a party newspaper and leaflets, they were roughly detained, with Cherepovsky being dragged into a courtyard and beaten, according to his comrades. Cherepovsky was charged with use of violence. At first, the criminal case included two victims - policemen Yevgeny Artamonov and Denis Vasin of the Tsentralny police department but only Vasin remain. The bill of indictment states that Cherepovsky grabbed him by the neck to throw him to the ground. Scratches were found on Vasin's neck, but there was no evidence that it was Cherepovsky who inflicted them. At the trial, both Vasin and the prosecution witnesses actually denied the testimony given during the investigation and no one directly confirmed the fact of violence. Nevertheless, Cherepovsky was sentenced to two years imprisonment. The court of second instance left the sentence unchanged. On 30 April 2015, he was released from prison.
