Sergey Krivov is a member of the Solidarity movement and the RPR-PARNAS party and was an election observer. On 6 May 2012, he was severely beaten on Bolotnaya Square. Later, he repeatedly participated in pickets in defence of those accused in the Bolotnaya case in front of the Investigative Committee building, where he was detained in October 2012. The prosecution claims that Krivovov took the baton from riot policeman Alexander Algunov and hit him on the arm with it, and pushed riot policeman Denis Moiseyev so that he lost his balance. At the same time, there is evidence that Algunov himself beat Krivov, while there is no evidence of Krivov's violent actions. In addition, Moiseyev's identification of Krivov was falsified: the riot policeman pointed to another person, but it was written in the protocol that he identified Krivov.
During his time in the pre-trial detention centre Krivov went on hunger strike twice: in December 2012 - January 2013 in connection with the next extension of the period of detention, and in autumn 2013 - against the fact that he was not provided with the minutes of court hearings despite his petitions. Krivov was taken to court in a serious condition, and the judge ignored the requests of the defence to call an ambulance. Krivov was repeatedly beaten by the escort during the court sessions.
Prosecutors in the debate asked to sentence Krivov to six years' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. The defence called for his acquittal. The Zamoskvoretsky court sentenced Krivov to four years in prison, the Moscow City Court reduced the sentence by three months.
For a long time in the penal colony Krivov did not receive and could not send any correspondence, complaints were not allowed. In addition, he did not receive any money for his work and was not transferred to a light regime, to which he was entitled. On 2 March 2015, he was unexpectedly transferred to a neighbouring colony, three days before the court hearing of his application for parole. Due to the transfer to another colony, the court could not consider the application. On 15 July 2016, Krivovov was released.
