Sergey Nikolayevich Kuznetsov was born on February 6, 1975. At the time of his arrest, he lived in the Moscow region, and worked as a welder. He has affiliations with left-wing and communist communities. He was charged under part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls to carry out terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism", up to 7 years' imprisonment). On June 9, 2021, at five o'clock in the morning, masked men with automatic rifles, presumably FSB officers, burst into the countryside house. Here is how Sergei's friend Dmitry Kabanov describes what happened on his Vkontakte page: "... Everyone was immediately seized and without any legal interludes they (the officers) began to turn the whole house upside down. We were not presented with any warrant authorizing the search of the house, they just started turning everything upside down. They began to interrogate Sergey by torturing him with a taser, as he refused to give his name. After the interrogations, Sergey was taken to an unknown destination, and the witnesses were taken to the District Department of Internal Affairs, where they were held for 3 hours. Physical violence was also used against the witnesses. There was no information about Sergey's whereabouts for about a week. Sergei's friends, together with his lawyer and a representative of the Public Monitoring Commission, managed to find him - Sergei answered one of the letters that were sent to all pre-trial detention facilities in Moscow.

"At the meeting, Sergei complained about his health and asked for medication to be sent to him. No one responded to his requests for a doctor. For more than a month we were trying to solve the issue with the doctor and the transfer of the necessary medication. All this time Sergei had regular headaches and other health problems." https://telegra.ph/Kak-obstoyat-dela-10-19

After a two-week quarantine for coronavirus in the pre-trial detention facility 7, Sergei was transferred to the pre-trial detention facility 5 "Vodniki".

In May 2022, a court hearing was held, and a verdict was issued for Sergey's release and a fine of 300,000 rubles. Sergey was released from custody right from the courtroom. The pre-trial restriction of custody was changed to release on his own recognizance.

In his Telegram channel Kuznetsov writes about the progress of the case: "Good afternoon, everyone. I have decided to appeal to all of you for help, because I have health problems, namely protrusion of intervertebral discs. I am not able to work for a month already, and do not know when I can properly start working. The medical commission extended the sick leave for a fortnight." He also writes about the inability to work because of his disability for health reasons, and that he is writing a petition to the court with a request to postpone the fine.
