Sergey Makhlanov

A resident of the Sverdlovsk region. He was accused of participating in the activities of an extremist organisation: the investigation believed that he was involved in the "citizens of the USSR" movement. Representatives of this movement deny the dissolution of the USSR; it is not clear how structured this movement is or what level of threat it poses to Russian society. Makhlanov was under a travel restriction order. On August 14, 2024, he was sentenced to two years in a general-regime colony.
