Svetlana Zotova

Mother of Valeria Zotova, who is being prosecuted in the case of arson of a humanitarian aid collection point for Donbass. On 14 March 2023, law enforcement officers came to Zotova's home and took her to the police station. There they started asking her about her comments on social media. According to Zotova, one of the law enforcement officers threatened her with a criminal charge, called her swear words and swung his fists at her. After that, the woman was taken to the Main Directorate of Ministry of Internal Affairs, where she was told that two criminal cases were initiated against her. The first was under the article on incitement to terrorism. Zotova was charged with two comments, in one of them she allegedly wrote the words "Russians" and "nuclear". Meanwhile, the police refused to show her these comments. Another criminal case, according to the law enforcers, is related to her questioning in the case of her daughter Valeria. In the evening the woman was released, on 16 March she was charged. On 6 December 2023, Zotova was sentenced to a 350 thousand rubles fine.
