Vadim Khabirov

In December 2017, Vadim was detained and arrested in a case of involvement in the activities of a terrorist organisation in connection with alleged involvement with the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is not related to extremism and terrorism. On 13 November 2018, he was sentenced to 16 years in a strict-regime colony.

In 2006, Khabirov and three other residents of Chelyabinsk were prosecuted for participation in the activities of an extremist organisation for distributing Hizb ut-Tahrir brochures. On 19 December 2007, he was given a suspended sentence.

In July 2008 he was detained on a new case of participation in the activities of a banned organisation. Together with his brother Salavat Khabirov and two other people, he was also charged with illegal acquisition and storage of ammunition and preparation to commit a terrorist act. Relatives claimed that the ammunition found during the searches had been planted. During the trial, the charge of preparation to commit a terrorist act was dropped. On 4 June 2010, Vadim Khabirov was sentenced to two years in an open jail.
