Vasil Gafurov

Born in Uzbekistan, resident of Naberezhnye Chelny. On 5 February 2024 he was taken into custody on charges of organising activities of a terrorist organisation in connection with involvement in the activities of the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir. A number of human rights defenders consider the recognition of the party as a terrorist organisation groundless, as the party was not involved in the commission of terrorist acts.
