The journalist was on Red Square at the time of the protest, during which Pavel Krysevich, an activist-artist, shot himself in the head. A criminal case was initiated in connection with the protest. Despite the fact that Samusik was carrying out an editorial assignment, she was initially prosecuted as a suspect. Later the case was dropped.
