Viktor Kudryavtsev

Detained and taken into custody on 20 July 2018. The charge of high treason was brought with the participation of the state defence lawyer, who knew that the scientist had lawyers under the agreement, but prevented them from participating in the investigative actions.

According to the defense, the investigation offered Viktor Kudryavtsev to plead guilty to high treason and testify against his student, promising transfer under house arrest, but the scientist did not agree.

Kudryavtsev has diabetes mellitus, hypertension, angina pectoris, atherosclerosis of the arteries of the lower limbs, cardiac renal failure, chronic thyroiditis, consequences of myocardial infarction, and many other diseases. In response to the lawyers' complaint, the ECHR demanded that the Russian authorities take urgent actions regarding Viktor Kudryavtsev - provide him with appropriate medical care and send him to a civilian hospital not connected with the penitentiary system for examination and treatment. However, Kudryavtsev was sent to the detention ward of the 20th City Hospital in Moscow, from where he was returned to the pre-trial detention center.

On 27 September 2019, he was released on his recognizance not to leave. Lawyers sought the suspension of the case due to Kudryavtsev's physical condition. Died on 29 April 2021.
