On 2 April 2022, Arefyeva filmed the action of "Vesna" activist Lina Barabash, who hung an anti-war banner and chained herself to the fence of the military hospital on Suvorovsky Prospekt. At that time, men in military uniform came up to the girls, demanded to stop the action and attacked Victoria: they threw her and the participants of the action on the ground, because of which the journalist's glasses and phone were broken. The men took away the girls' personal belongings and gave them back only when the police arrived. On 24 September 2022, law enforcement officers broke down the door

Arefyeva was detained as part of a case of a false bomb threat, but was later released on a non-disclosure bond. The case was one of a large series of cases filed in 2022 against anti-war protesters.
