Biography

On 11 February 2015, upon his return to Russia, he was detained for calling for the organisation of a peaceful protest on 18 May 2014 on Manezhnaya Square in Moscow (which did not actually take place).

The charges against Shishkin under two different articles of the Criminal Code were absolutely identical, i.e. the same set of actions were qualified both as calls for mass disorder (including expressing protest against migration policy and granting benefits to Russians) and as incitement to hatred on ethnic grounds (including demanding a change of power in the Russian Federation and the resignation of the president).

Shishkin pleaded guilty and agreed with the investigation and was sentenced on 15 October 2015 to four years in a general regime colony.

On 10 January 2019, he was released from prison.
