A former head of the Verkhnevilyuisky District in Yakutia and a former member of "United Russia" (the dominant political party in Russia), he served as a deputy in the Legislative Assembly (Il Tumen) of the republic. In June 2025, Poskachin was detained as part of a corruption investigation involving the Verkhnevilyuisky District administration; he was later released as a witness. A week prior to the search, he had participated in submitting an application for a rally to advocate for maintaining direct elections for the mayor of Yakutsk. Subsequently, 70 rifle cartridges were found in his possession, resulting in charges of
