On 6 March, an anonymous VKontakte publick "Polite People / War" published a report that two citizens detained on Pushkin Square were found in possession of explosives. Sergeyev pleaded guilty. On 5 May it became known that the charge was reclassified to preparation for a terrorist act by a group of persons (part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code with application of part 1 of article 30 of the Criminal Code). On 20 April 2023 Sergeyev was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime colony. On 27 September, the court of appeal reduced his sentence by two months.
