On 3 November 2017, two days before the planned march to Sovetov Square in Rostov-on-Don in response to Vyacheslav Maltsev's call to stage a "revolution", Vladislav Mordasov, one of the administrators of a Telegram chat room dedicated to the action, received a call from the police and was offered a meeting. Mordasov left home and spent the night at the home of Yan Sidorov, with whom they were preparing for the event together. On 5 November 2017, Mordasov, together with Sidorov, was detained after going out on a picket. On the same day, employees of the Centre for Counteracting Extremism questioned him - as he later reported, he was subjected to threats and violence, in connection with which he was forced to incriminate himself and his comrade Yan Sidorov, with whom he was detained together. On 6 November he was arrested for seven days under the article on organising an uncoordinated event. Later, he said that employees of the Centre "E" came to him in the special detention centre and demanded to give a confession. On 9 November a case of preparation for mass riots was opened. On 10 November Mordasov was taken from the special detention centre to the investigation department, and on the way he continued to be pressured by the employees of the Centre "E". In the investigative department the pressure and violence continued, Mordasov again gave testimony in which he incriminated himself. The interrogation was attended by a lawyer by appointment, who was not supposed to be on duty that day. On 12 November he was arrested on the criminal case.

On 4 October 2019 he was sentenced to six years and seven months in a strict regime colony. The court of appeal left the judgement unchanged. On 30 July 2020 the court of cassation reclassified the charge from attempted to preparation for organising mass riots and reduced the sentence to four years. He was released on 3 November 2021.
