On 6 November he was arrested for seven days under the article on organising an uncoordinated event. Later, he said that employees of the Centre "E" came to him in the special detention centre and demanded to give a confession. On 9 November a case of preparation for mass riots was opened. On 10 November, Sidorov was taken from the special detention centre to the investigation department, and on the way he continued to be pressured by employees of the Centre "E". In the investigative department Sidorov gave testimony in the presence of the appointed lawyer, who was not supposed to be on duty that day, but this time emphasised that their goal was a peaceful rally to convey their dissatisfaction to the authorities. On 12 November, arrested already in the framework of the criminal case. In July 2018, after another extension of his arrest, he went on hunger strike, which he stopped a few weeks later at the request of his relatives.

A check was carried out on Sidorov's statement, and criminal proceedings were refused.

On 4 October 2019, he was sentenced to six and a half years in a strict regime colony. The court of appeal instance left the decision unchanged. On 30 July 2020, the court of cassation reclassified the charge from attempted to preparation for organising mass riots and reduced the sentence to four years. He was released on 3 November 2021.
