Yaroslav Zhdamarov

From 2015 until September 24, 2019, he served as a sapper and a dog handler in the Ukrainian regiment "Azov." He was detained on April 23, 2022, and charged with the violent seizure and retention of power, involvement in a terrorist organization, and undergoing training for terrorist activities.

Human rights activists argue that he is a prisoner of war and, therefore, should not have been prosecuted merely for participating in combat. Additionally, they consider the charges to be absurd.

On March 26, 2025, Zhdamarov was sentenced to 22 years in a high-security penal colony.
