Biography
A resident of St. Petersburg. According to her, in August 2023, she was contacted by people who introduced themselves as law enforcers and told her that her savings were in danger. She took out loans for 200,000 roubles (≈$2200 as of 01.08.2023) and transferred them to an account which her interlocutors said was safe. The money disappeared after that. The interlocutors then said that she should commit arson near the military enlistment centre where the criminals were located and that it was her duty "as a Russian citizen and as a conscientious person". She took out loans for 200,000 roubles (≈$2200 as of 01.08.2023) and transferred them to an account which her interlocutors said was safe. The money disappeared after that. The interlocutors then said that she should commit arson near the military enlistment centre where the criminals were located and that it was her duty "as a Russian citizen and as a conscientious person". They promised Kurbanova 50,000 roubles (≈$545 as of 01.08.2023), threatening that she would have to pay a million roubles if she refused. On 1 August 2023, Kurbanova spilled a flammable liquid near the military enlistment office on the Angliyskiy Avenue and set it on fire. She recorded a report for her interlocutors. That same night she was visited at her home and detained. A case of damage to property was opened against her. On 3 August Kurbanova was taken into custody. Later the charge was reclassified to committing a terrorist act. On 14 February 2024, Kurbanova was sentenced to ten years in a general regime colony. On 24 April 2024, the court of appeal changed the sentence, details are unknown.
